Disney is delaying the launch of its streaming service in India amid coronavirus. Disney+ was supposed to launch on March 29 to coincide with the start of the Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket season, but the season has been delayed at least until April 15 due to the outbreak of the Covid-19, and now Disney is revising its plans.

“We recently announced that Disney Plus would launch in India through the Hotstar service in conjunction with beginning of the Indian Premier League cricket season. Given the delay of the season, we have made the decision to briefly pause the roll-out of Disney Plus and will announce a new revised premiere date for the service soon,” said Uday Shankar, President of Disney's Asia Pacific unit, in a statement.

A similar situation occurred in France, where The Walt Disney Company has postponed the launch of direct-to-consumer service by two weeks after a government plea. The French edition of Disney+, which had been set to go live tomorrow alongside the service’s launch in the UK, Ireland, Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria and Switzerland, will now arrive on Tuesday April 7.
