Established in 2013 headquarter in Turkey, DigiGuardians is an anti-piracy content protection company that provides IP protection for producers, distributors, digital platforms, and broadcasters. "In today’s media landscape, safeguarding IP is essential, as piracy remains one of the most persistent challenges facing our industry,” stated Ezgi Eskikanbur, Business Development and Partnership Manager at the company, to Señal News. “Content right now is highly representative, so it should be protected. Its production budget is also going higher, so you have to take care about the IPs and your rights,” she added.
Currently, DigiGuardians’ reach is truly global. 'We provide content protection services across 15 countries and 5 regions, and we are capable of serving all the content owners,” Eskikanbur asserted.
DigiGuardians has developed its own AI supported technology, which is capable of detecting and removing infringing content in all digital environment. Within the media and entertainment ecosystem, DigiGuardians works with all rights holders — from production houses and distributors to OTT platforms, Pay TV providers, and FTA broadcasters — to protect their content in the digital space. By preventing unauthorized distribution and piracy, the company ensures that audiences and subscribers remain concentrated on legitimate platforms. This not only safeguards content integrity, but also helps maximize revenues, including box office returns and digital earnings. Ultimately, DigiGuardians enhances the global potential of IP by preventing disruption caused by piracy and adding measurable value to every piece of content. “We also have technical agents who supervise and double-check the system,” she added.
The executive also emphasized the need to act quickly when combating piracy. “Pirates are always waiting for the content. Whenever you send a digital record, whenever you remove that link, they are popping up. So, you have to be really consistent about every single time you have to remove them,” she explained.
DigiGuardians' technology is accessible and scalable for all types of IP owners. “Our pricing is based on the content,” Eskikanbur explained. She also mentioned that DigiGuardians’ system mimics audience behavior. “You can take our services globally as well, but it is also a budget kind of decision. You can take regional protection, you can take some different regional, like wider regions or globally. That is up to content owners’ release strategy,” she added.
THE MAP OF PIRACY
The Business Development and Partnership Manager at DigiGuardians revealed that they have observed more piracy in Latin America, the Middle East and the US. “The latest trend in piracy is Telegram and TikTok,” she commented.
Eskikanbur explained that Telegram may appear harmless on the surface, but in reality, it has turned into a piracy haven where illegal content spreads rapidly. “People can simply type the name of the content and find numerous chat groups and links. They don’t even have to upload the link — they just press play and can watch all the content. It’s that easy,” she explained.
When it comes to TikTok, the executive pointed out that although the platform is widely seen as a short-video sharing app, it is increasingly being misused. “Pirates are uploading entire episodes in 20 parts. As users scroll down, they end up watching the full episode, so there’s no reason to go to the TV channels or VOD platforms. Telegram and TikTok are currently extremely hyped,” she concluded.
