Montreal-based HG Distribution has gained its notoriety representing independent producers internationally and providing quality content to broadcasters across the globe. The company wants to put its focus in Latin America attending MIP Cancun 2023 and Content Americas 2024. The President of HG Distribution unveils the main titles of the company for Latin broadcasters and platforms.

HG Distribution to attend MIP Cancun this month. How could you define the current performance of the company in Latin America?
"HG Distribution's current performance in Latin America would depend on various factors such as market share, revenue growth, and the success of titles we distribute. Without specific data, it's challenging to provide a precise assessment."

What titles do you want to impulse in the region?
"'Macy Murdoch’ (8x11’), based on the worldwide hit series 'Murdoch Mysteries', is an adventure short content series for teens about a mysterious rival uses a time machine to frame famous Edwardian-era Detective William Murdoch of a murder he didn’t commit, Macy and her friends travel back to 1910 to determine the real perpetrator of the crime. 'Everest Invaders' (1x60’), a factual, society documentary about the new-age climbers that are urbanizing the mountains. Tourists from around the world are taking over these places, causing pollution and an inevitable collapse of life. 'Polpetta y sus Amigos' (52x5’), a preschool educational animation series about a sweet, friendly little alien, Polpetta, that crash-landed on Earth and 'AI: To Be or Not To Be' (1x60’ & 3x60’), a science & technology documentary about Artificial Intelligence where audience meet scientists, philosophers, psychologists, researchers, humanoid creators and even transhumanists to better understand the exponential evolution of AI and its implications for our daily lives."



To this day, HG Distribution represents over 100 producers internationally. Are you looking to implement the same strategy in Latin America?
"Expanding the strategy of representing over 100 producers internationally into Latin America is a strategic move to tap into the growing market. However, the success of this strategy will depend on factors like content demand and competition in the region, but we are present in both important markets MIP Cancun and Content Americas."

The company has set up in 2006, how would you describe the evolution of the audiovisual industry till today?
"Since 2006, the audiovisual industry has seen significant changes with the rise of streaming platforms, digital content distribution, and changing viewer preferences. HG Distribution have adapted and keeping adapting to these shifts to stay relevant and competitive."

What are the main challenges for an independent distributor nowadays?
"Independent distributors often face challenges such as competition with major studios, securing distribution deals, marketing, and staying financially sustainable. Adaptability and finding niche markets can be essential for success. We try to differentiate by working harder and in finding what our clients are looking for…"
