AVOD platforms are now projected to have $17.8 billion, according to a recent report released by MoffettNathanson Research. The ad-supported outlets were estimated to garner $4.4 billion in 2020, with Hulu making up $2.5 billion.

Individual AVOD platforms, such as Hulu's, accumulated $653 million in advertising revenue during the fourth quarter. Pluto and Roku Channel, each had $173 million and Tubi hit $105 million. In 2025, the analysis company projects that of the nearly $18 billion for AVOD, $5.3 billion will go for Hulu; $4.4 billion for Roku; $2.3 billion each for Peacock and Pluto; $1.9 billion for Tubi; and $500 million for HBO Max (aad option yet to start.)

In terms of total advertising minutes per hour of programming, Hulu was at 10 minutes, Pluto at 10 minutes, Roku Channel at 8 minutes and Tubi in 5 minutes. MoffettNathanson says the Roku Channel represented 65% or more of all Roku video ad revenues. Roku's overall advertising platform was valued at $265 million overall, with the streaming acquiring 15% share of ad inventory on Peacock.

Aconnected TV estimate from eMarketer says the total CTV ad market was at $8 billion in revenue in 2020. This accounts for all digital advertising that appears on home screens and in-screen video advertising, as well as YouTube's video ad dollars. The statistics attributing 600,000 mobile app downloads and 300,000 Google Play downloads for Paramount+ during its first day were released erroneously. The figures represented Sensor Tower numbers for January for the CBS app. We apologize for the error, and will report Sensor Tower's actual Paramount+ stats when they are released.
