The major global streaming platforms (Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, Apple TV+, Paramount+ and Max/HBO Max) will invest US$42 billion in original and acquired film and TV content this year, the latest Ampere Analysis forecast suggest.
HBO’s breakout hit "The Last Of Us", plus record-breaking box office figures for "The Super Mario Bros. Movie", have greatly increased the prominence of game adaptations into film and TV.
With HGTV and Cartoon Network also added on Unifi TV in August, WBD now offers nine of its channels as well as the regional streaming service, HBO GO, which will be available in October.
HBO’s “The Last of Us” was the most acclaimed new title to premiere in the first half of 2023, according to Ampere Analysis’ Critical Rating, a proxy for content quality based on audience and critics’ reviews.
