Fremantle has picked up the format for co-distribution, with Nippon TV distributing in Asia (excluding Indonesia, India and Singapore), and Fremantle distributing in rest of world.
The distributor has secured deals for seasons one and two in the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Slovakia, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Africa, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, and Israel.
The title is a Vietnam-Korea-Singapore co-production written & directed by Phan Gia Nhat Linh, produced by Anh Teu Studio (ATS) and Sidus and Teu Entertainment (SATE), in collaboration with Beach House Pictures.
The crime drama is commissioned by the Canal+ group and Studiocanal. The 8 x 52’ series follows the rise of an all-female gang run by two sisters, set in 1950s Singapore, a city of crime at the time, and the glamorous but lawless “Wild West” of Asia. "Red Butterfly" will be filmed in English and Chinese on location in Singapore and Malaysia.
