Six regional directors will be appointed to lead the following regions: Africa, the Americas, Asia Pacific, Central and South Asia, Europe, and the Middle East and North Africa. The regional directors will be responsible for expanding audiences in their respective regions and establishing clear reporting structures for each of the BBC World Service’s 42 language services.

The BBC retains pole position for trust and is also ranked first for reliability and independence amongst international news providers. Also, the BBC World Service, operating across the 42 language services, saw audiences of 320m (318m in 2023).

Currently Director of Journalism and Deputy CEO of BBC News, Jonathan Munro will take up the post of BBC News Global Director from September. He also will be Director of the BBC World Service, oversee BBC Monitoring and remain Deputy CEO of BBC News and Current Affairs.
