Japanese Sword Action Entertainment drama set to shake up the landscape of Japanese television, tapping into the timeless allure of jidaigeki (period dramas) and samurai culture.

The move strengthens the BBC Studios and U-NEXT partnership to offer a wide range of content across multiple genres to Japanese audiences. Earlier this year BBC Studios and U-NEXT renewed their partnership to include beloved children’s programmes like Sarah and Duck and Go Jetters as well as English language learning series Yakka Dee.

Legendary Television has secured a deal with top French network TF1 and Japan’s leading OTT player U-NEXT for the exclusive distribution rights in France and Japan, respectively, for the new sci-fi drama “Debris”.
