Airing on Telefuturo, a Paraguayan free TV channel, Globo’s series “Rebirth” premiered on the 5th as audience leader. In its first episode, the telenovela reached an average share of 45.58% and a peak share of 48.41%. The storyline follows the success of “Land of Desire” and “Pantanal,” which were also aired on Telefuturo and won over the Paraguayan audience.
“We are very pleased with another successful outcome of our partnership with Telefuturo in Paraguay, which is a strategic territory for Globo in Latin America. This premiere reflects how the Paraguayan audience connects and identifies with our stories. This was the first country to air ‘Rebirth,’ and I hope the telenovela continues to attract new viewers,” said Isadora Filpi, Content Distribution & Partnerships at Globo.
"The Paraguayan audience has always received Globo's productions excellently and, for Telefuturo, it is a satisfaction to successfully broadcast these stories, which, despite being from two different countries, share in rural areas similarities in terms of culture and idiosyncrasies, which makes the Paraguayan audience to feel identified. We trust that this partnership with Globo will keep Prime on, with highly produced and successful telenovelas such as ‘Pantanal,’ ‘Land of Desire’ and now ‘Rebirth,’” added Marcos Román, Manager of Television Programming and Acquisitions at Telefuturo.
“Rebirth” is currently airing in prime time in Brazil, and it is written by Bruno Luperi with artistic direction by Gustavo Fernandez, the same team behind the success of “Pantanal.” The plot follows José Inocêncio (Humberto Carrão from “All The Flowers” and Marcos Palmeira from “Pantanal”) who becomes a legendary figure as he rises to become the most successful farmer in the region due to his achievements as a cocoa producer. While still young, he wins the love of Maria Santa (Duda Santos from “The Path”), who dies giving birth to their youngest child. Indifference and bitterness define the relationship between the patriarch and his youngest son throughout their lives. Years later, the arrival of the mysterious Mariana (Theresa Fonseca) will test all these emotions as both father and son fall in love with the same woman.
