GMA Network’s adaptation of South Korea series "Descendants of the Sun" (DOTS), will debut on Philippine primetime this February 10. The series is among GMA’s grandest drama offers for 2020 and It will be headlined by Dingdong Dantes ("Bow of Justice", "The Other Mrs. Real") and Jennylyn Mercado ("My Love From The Star", "My Faithful Husband").

“Viewers have been waiting for our adaptation of this drama. Story-wise, we did some tweaking to make it suitable for the Philippine setting, while keeping the important elements that endeared the series to the viewers. We’re very excited about this series and we’re very proud of it,” shared Dantes.

Mercado echoed Dantes’ sentiments, “We worked hard in this series, but it was all worth it because everyone in the team put their hearts into the project – from the director, to the cast, to the entire production team. We all worked together to make the show truly outstanding.”

Adapted from the hit series from South Korea, "Descendants of the Sun" tells the story of Lucas and Maxine, two people brought together by destiny. Lucas is a professional soldier and captain of the special forces of the Philippine military. He meets Maxine, a talented and dedicated surgeon. He is instantly attracted to her and they begin to date. Unfortunately, their professions and responsibilities keep getting in the way and they decide to part ways.

Lucas and Maxine meet again when they are both deployed to a war-torn region of the country on a peacekeeping mission. Lucas heads the military troop, while Maxine leads the medical volunteers. They spend time together and soon, rekindle their romance. As they find themselves in the middle of conflicts brought about by war and nature, they try to survive while keeping their relationship alive. However, they also realize how different their views of life are. As a soldier, Lucas kills to protect lives, while as a doctor, Maxine tries to save lives. A bigger challenge will test their relationship when Lucas finds out that the terrorist he has been chasing is Maxine’s long lost brother.

Starring alongside Dantes and Mercado are award-winning actors Rocco Nacino ("Angela", "Memories of Love") and Jasmine Curtis-Smith ("Sahaya", "Family Jewels") and Asia’s Pop Diva Julie Anne San Jose sang the English version of the official theme song of the original series, “You Are My Everything”.

The series is directed by Dominic Zapata ("My Husband’s Lover", "The Rich Man’s Daughter"), who promised not to disappoint the viewers. “I will not compromise the quality and (the viewers’) expectations of 'Descendants of the Sun' and I will not compromise Filipinos doing a Filipino adaptation of this much-loved Korean drama,”.
