NHK Enterprises has acquired period crime thriller "Noble Detective," set to air on AXN Mystery channel in Japan in 2022 and will become available for subscribers of five online services through AXN MYSTERY on demand SVOD platform. That deal was the second one signed between NTV and NHK Enterprises. A few ‘Noble Detective’ episodes aired on AXN Mystery in February 2021, and earned high interest from the viewers.

"The Japanese media market is highly closed-off and particular, and until very recently there was no Russian-made content there at all," Timur Weinstein, NTV General Producer said. "Even now very few content makers are allowed there. To get our foot in the door, and more importantly, to solidify our position there is a great success for both NTV and the Russian media industry as a whole.

"Seeing that the Japanese media industry works mostly with short mini series, we experimented by first granting them the rights to just a few episodes," Weinstein said. "Fortunately, the ‘Noble Detective’ narrative structure is perfect for that. I’m happy for the Japanese TV viewers who will soon be able to watch the new exploits of the Russian crime detective."

"Noble Detective" is set in the early 20th century Tsarist Russia. Nikolay Bezsonov, a young man of noble birth, joins the criminal police. He’s smart, well-educated, honorable, has a remarkable memory and treats everyone fairly. His colleagues, however, are quite cold with him. Only experienced investigator Pyotr Schukin sees Nikolay’s potential to become a star crime detective. The series stars Denis Nurulin and Aleksei Grishin.
