Rai CEO, Roberto Sergio, as the oldest Director in terms of age, pursuant to art. 22.3 of the Articles of Association, assumes the functions of Chairman of the Board of Directors. At the same time, Roberto Sergio resigns from the mandate of interim Director of the Radio Department, a position that will be assumed, also on an interim basis, by Flavio Mucciante.

With regard to the supervision of internal control activities, this responsibility will remain with the Board of Directors, to which the Internal Audit Department will report at an organizational level.

This news follow the Rai President Marinella Soldi's resign last month, when she was appointed as a non-executive director of the BBC’s Commercial Board, from 1 September 2024, having joined the BBC as a director of the main Group Board in September 2023.

In addition, the Italian Minister of Economy, Giancarlo Giorgetti, has expressed, last week, the possibility of privatizing part of public television and radio, RAI, which are not intended for public service. Giorgetti said: “We need to understand what is meant by public service, then we can evaluate the hypotheses. If the law tells me that Rai does public service, such will remain the company. However, if RAI performs activities that are not considered public service, we could consider the possibility of partial privatization."
