“Escape From Pretoria”
TNT Africa will premiere a new original movie every month exclusively on throughout Africa. The slate is part of a new collaboration across WarnerMedia international divisions with Particular Crowd, the original movie banner of Turner Latin America, expanding its strategy to produce mainstream original movies for a diverse and global audience. The movies will be curated from a selection of Particular Crowd’s English language titles.
The first movie to premiere will be the true-life prison-break thriller, “Escape From Pretoria”, starring Daniel Radcliffe. This South African set story depicts the daring prison escape of anti-apartheid activist Tim Jenkin from the notorious Pretoria prison.
Further movies to premiere include the comedy “Standing Up, Falling Down” starring Billy Crystal and Ben Schwartz, thriller “Human Capital” starring Liev Schreiber, Peter Sarsgaard, and Marisa Tomei, and the action movie “Twist” starring Michael Caine and Lena Headey.
The Vice President of Particular Crowd, Peter Bevan said, “We’re delighted to be collaborating with our TNT Africa family on this ambitious and exciting slate of original content. Expanding the global audience reach for our content is an important focus of our multiplatform strategy.”
“With this launch, we are expanding our TNT Africa’s channel offering. We’re always obsessed with creating unique experiences for our fans, and with the new TNT Original Movies, we’re providing our audiences with an exciting, wide range, and consistent flow of high-quality programming across all genres,” says Guillermo Farré, Head of General Entertainment Channels at WarnerMedia Africa.
