"Hunted"
Banijay Entertainment announced that factual reality thriller "Hunted" is set to debut in three new markets. The format has been commissioned in Sweden, where Meter/Jarowskij will produce for Kanal 5 and Max; in French-speaking Belgium, with Banijay Belgium producing for RTL-TVI; and in Botswana, where Banijay Rights has struck a deal with local partner Botswana Ignite.
Banijay Entertainment’s "Hunted" sees civilians and celebrities put to the test as they become fugitives on the run, attempting to evade elite trackers—including ex-military, intelligence, and cyber experts—to win a cash prize. As the pressure mounts, one question remains: can they truly disappear?
Created by Banijay UK’s Shine TV, the format continues to thrive globally and has now been adapted in 12 markets to date. It remains a long-running success in the UK, where Channel 4 recently announced two further series, and in the Netherlands, where the celebrity edition is currently delivering a 36.6% market share among key younger demographics. The Dutch creatives at SimpelZodiak are also behind spin-off "Hunted into the Wild," which takes the format out into an inhospitable landscape.
Lucas Green, Chief Content Officer, Operations at Banijay Entertainment, praised the format: ‘"Hunted" is the original and most intense fugitive format, and one that consistently delivers stellar ratings. It’s the ultimate game of cat and mouse, blending real-world tactics, immense pressure, and high-stakes storytelling. As we expand into new territories, the authenticity and adrenaline-fueled suspense, along with a proven track record in the ability to draw both linear and streamer audiences, make this an unrivaled format," expressed.
"Hunted" is among Banijay Entertainment’s globally renowned traveling hits, alongside "The Summit," "The Fifty," and "Good Luck Guys," as well as iconic superbrands like "Big Brother" and "MasterChef." High-profile streamer launches include "Bear Hunt" (Netflix), as well as new projects like "Game of Chairs," "Football Island," "Dates on Stage," and "AI Love You."
