World famous soap opera “Yo Soy Betty, La Fea” has traveled to South African channel SABC 1, where is now on air from Monday to Wednesday, and part of the digital content platform VIU. The local adaptation is entitled “uBettina Wethu”.
The show was produced by Known Associates Entertainment Pty Ltd, which was in charge of bringing to life iconic characters like Beatriz Pinzón and Armando Mendoza, with a stellar cast composed by Farieda Metsileng, who will be portraying the lead role, and Zweli Dube playing the role of Dingaan Jiyane.
“We are so proud to have Farieda Metsileng as the very first African Betty ever! When we started the casting process, we wanted to cast the net as wide as possible and in order to give a fair chance to talented actors and actresses who may not usually have access to agents or auditions,” said Tshepiso Chikapa Phiri, producer of “uBettina Wethu”.
“Yo Soy Betty, La Fea” is one of the most watched telenovelas in the world. It was written by Fernando Gaitán, produced by Canal RCN and has accomplished important achievements and recognitions throughout history. In addition, it has been sold to more than 100 countries, dubbed into nearly 25 different languages, reaching more than 19 international adaptations.
