Abacus Media Rights has acquired the international sales rights to the documentary feature “Hollywood Bulldogs: The Rise and Falls of the Great British Stuntman.” “This is the first documentary to unite this legendary community, telling their own stories in their own words and revealing the thrilling and very dangerous life behind the scenes in Hollywood,” Jonathan Ford, Managing Director at Abacus Media Rights, said.

The film was produced by Canal Cat Films in Association with Red Rock Entertainment and Verax Films and directed by Jon Spira, produced by Hank Starrs and executive produced by Adam F. Goldberg, Liam Dunne, Robert Hornak, Gary Collins, Michael Cowan, and Arvind Desai.

Narrated by Ray Winstone, the documentary tells the rough-and-tumble story of the small community of British stunt performers who came to dominate Hollywood in the 1970s and 80s. “It is a fascinating insight into an art that doesn’t get a huge amount of recognition but one that so many award-winners on the big screen have relied upon for many years,” Ford said.

“Hollywood Bulldogs: The Rise and Falls of the Great British Stuntman” features a cast of stuntmen, including Vic Armstrong, Paul Weston, Rocky Taylor, Greg Powell, Ray Austin, Jim Dowdall, Richard Hammatt, and Frank Henson. The documentary reveals how by partying and drinking their way through chaos and tragedy, a community of bouncers, gangsters, and demobbed soldiers served as pioneers of the action genre, paving the way for Indiana Jones, Superman, Rambo, Star Wars, Conan, and the Alien Films, among many others. The men crashed cars, jumped from burning buildings, shot, stabbed, kicked, and punched their way into cinema history.
