Abacus Media Rights acquires worldwide distribution rights for “The Trick”

The company has acquired worldwide distribution rights (excluding UK) for Vox Picture’s 90-minute feature length drama, which will be delivering from October 2021 and was recently announced as being commissioned by BBC One.

Abacus Media Rights, a member of the Amcomri Media Group, has acquired worldwide distribution rights (excluding UK) for Vox Picture’s 90-minute feature length drama “The Trick” which will be delivering from October 2021 and was recently announced as being commissioned by BBC One. Pre-sales have already been secured by AMR to PBS (United States) and NENT Group (Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Iceland, The Netherlands, Poland, and the Baltic countries).

“The Trick,” starring Jason Watkins and Victoria Hamilton, tells the story of world-renowned, respected scientist Professor Philip Jones, the Director of Climate Research at the University of East Anglia, who found himself at the eye of an international media storm and the victim of cyber terrorism in 2009. The ensemble cast of “The Trick” also includes George MacKay, Jerome Flynn, Adrian Edmondson, Aneirin Hughes, Pooky Quesnel, Richard Elfyn, Rhashan Stone, Justin Salinger, Tara Divina, and David Calder.

This powerful film embraces a highly creative production team which includes Adrian Bate as producer for Vox Pictures, executive producer Ben Irving for the BBC, and director Pip Broughton. Commissioned by Piers Wenger, Director of BBC Drama, and Charlotte Moore, Chief Content Officer at BBC, “The Trick” is written by Owen Sheers.
