ABC, Screen Australia, and the Australian Children’s Television Foundation (ACTF) have announced two new original children’s series—“The Disposables” and “Thirtypop”—slated for production and broadcast on ABC ME and ABC iview.
“The Disposables”, produced by Aquarius Films, is an action-packed live-action series for upper-primary audiences. It follows a group of unlikely friends who come together to solve the mystery behind a strange signal emanating from an abandoned recycling plant. With themes of friendship, courage, and environmental consciousness, the series aims to entertain while encouraging young viewers to rethink what—and who—is truly disposable.
“Thirtypop”, produced by Sticky Pictures, is a high-energy comedy that puts a fresh spin on the classic body-swap trope. When 11-year-old Frankie accidentally switches bodies with her 30-year-old future self, chaos and hilarity ensue. The series explores identity, growing up, and self-discovery, offering clever storytelling with heart and humor.
Both series are backed by Screen Australia in association with ABC and ACTF, who will also handle global distribution rights for “Thirtypop.”
These new commissions reflect ABC’s continued commitment to high-quality, homegrown children’s programming with global reach and strong cultural relevance.
