All3Media International and Falcon Pictures have teamed up in a first-time deal that will see three scripted formats adapted for the territory. “We’re delighted that the renowned team at Falcon Pictures will be leading our first foray into scripted formats in Indonesia and congratulate them and Amanda Pe, Sales Executive Asia Pacific at All3Media International, on this first collaboration between our two companies, which we hope will be the first of many collaborations on developing dramas for this vibrant market," Sabrina Duguet, Executive Vice-President at All3Media International, said.
Currently in development are local versions of Two Brothers Pictures’ thrillers "Liar and Cheat," as well as mystery thriller "The Cry" from the award-winning team at Synchronicity. The partnership with Falcon Pictures, which is based in Jakarta, is All3Media International’s first scripted format deal in Indonesia. "Falcon Pictures has an impressive track record in bringing some of the country’s biggest titles to screens," Duguet said. "The ongoing demand for scripted formats such as Liar, which is now in 13 territories, shows that scripted formats continue to offer the cost-effective production and proven success that producers and broadcasters around the world are looking for.”
"Liar" and "Cheat" are written by Harry and Jack Williams, writers of the critically acclaimed "The Missing and Boat Story." Already adapted in 12 territories, "Liar" tells the story of a night that changes two people’s lives forever, while gripping thriller "Cheat," already successfully adapted in India, centres on a seemingly open-and-shut case of academic deception that quickly spirals out of control. Both titles were originally produced for ITV, UK. Produced by Synchronicity, "The Cry" is a psychological thriller based on Helen Fitzgerald’s best-selling book of the same name. The original version for BBC One, which stars Jenna Coleman and Ewen Leslie and was nominated for an International Emmy, has sold in 165 territories.
The popular thriller "Liar" tells the story of a night that changes the lives of Laura Nielson and Andrew Earlham forever. Laura is a smart and dedicated teacher, not long out of a relationship and unsure about getting back on the dating scene. Andrew is a renowned surgeon whose son is a pupil at Laura's school. An initial attraction leads to a date, but neither fully realises the far-reaching consequences that their meeting will have on each other or their families. Truth and consequences go hand in hand in a tense and gripping thriller that examines both sides of a relationship and both sides of the truth. Are there really two sides to every story? Liar explores the devastating cost of deceit on both the couple and their friends and family, as secrets and lies are laid bare...
At the heart of psychological thriller "Cheat" is the dangerous relationship between university professor Leah and her student Rose. When what begins as a seemingly open-and-shut case of academic deception spirals out of control, it triggers a devastating sequence of events that threatens to engulf them both. With two fiercely intelligent minds unwilling to back down, Cheat will keep audiences guessing from the start, exploring just how far we're prepared to stand up for what we believe, and at what cost?
"The Cry" chronicles the collapse of a marriage in the aftermath of a tragedy and explores the myths and truths of motherhood. New parents Joanna and Alistair live in Scotland but travel to his home country of Australia to introduce their new arrival to family – and so that Alistair can pursue custody of his first child, Chloe. Joanna is already struggling with being a first-time mum and soon after arrival they find themselves at the centre of an unthinkable tragedy when their baby boy is abducted from a sleepy coastal town. As they face the glare of public scrutiny, alongside this deeply personal trauma, the consequences of the tragedy succeed in changing their lives and their marriage forever.
“There is huge demand in Indonesia for local content, and these incredible titles, all gripping thrillers with strong female leads, really stood out to us as being ideal for adaptation," HB Naveen, CEO at Falcon Pictures, said. "Acquiring proven scripted formats such as Liar, Cheat and The Cry gives us an exciting opportunity to combine the best stories from leading global creatives with our best homegrown talent, and we can’t wait to deliver high-quality must-see versions of these thrillers to broadcasters – and viewers – in Indonesia.”
