Apple TV+ and Idris Elba partner to produce more content

The streaming service landed “Hijack” a thriller made by the actor’s company Green Door Pictures.

Apple TV+ and Emmy nominated Idris Elba (‘Luther) partnered to produce content. The streaming service made a deal with actor’s company, Green Door Pictures. As a result, Apple TV+ landed “Hijack”, a new seven-part thriller starring Elba.

Written by George Kay (‘Lupin’), the series is directed by Jim Field Smith (‘Criminal’). Both are executive produces as Elba, Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta y Kris Thykier. “Hijack” will be produced by 60Forty Films and Idiotlamp Productions in association with Green Door.

“Hijack” is a tense thriller told in real time that follows the journey of a hijacked plane as it makes its way to London over a seven-hour flight. In the story, Elba is Sam Nelson, an accomplished negotiator that will join authorities on the ground scramble for answers and will need to step up and use ll his guile to try and save the lives of the passengers.

This new show expands the offering of thrillers on Apple TV+, such as “Severance”, from director and executive producer Ben Stiller; and “Shining Girls”, the new metaphysical thriller based on the 2013 bestselling novel; or “Disclaimer,” a new psychological thriller series from multi-Academy Award, Golden Globe and BAFTA Award-winning director, writer, producer, cinematographer and editor Alfonso Cuarón.
