During MIPCOM, representatives from the Italian production company Casta Diva told Señal News that "The Magic Door" premiered on RAI 2 with a 3.1% share and 250,000 viewers. Additionally, the first episode of the show performed 50% better than the average on RAI 2.

The feel-good show is based on a format created by US producer JD Roth and is produced in Italy by Casta Diva and RAI Daytime entertainment division. On the other hand, distribution is handled by Small World. The show is hosted by Andrea Delogu, a famous presenter known for being very nice, warm, and empathetic.

"The Magic door" tells the stories of real people who want to change something in their lives. It could be a dream, a makeover, a transformation—anything. It's very emotional. "The Magic Door" will have an actual door in the studio, through which the protagonists of the stories will pass at the end of their journey, whether that’s by the end of the episode or a few weeks later, when something important has changed in their lives. The show airs from Monday to Friday at 5 p.m.

The original format was created by Roth, best known for US hits such as NBC’s weight-loss show "The Biggest Loser", "ABC’s Extreme Weight Loss" and The CW’s "Beauty & the Geek". Roth previously owned and ran 3Ball Productions before selling it to Dutch group Eyeworks in 2006.
