Bell Media’s upcoming original series "Heated Rivalry" is generating global momentum ahead of its debut, securing high-profile sales in key territories. The six-part romantic drama, produced by Accent Aigu Entertainment and distributed by Sphere Abacus, will premiere on Crave in Canada and simultaneously launch on HBO Max in the U.S. and Australia on November 28. Sky has picked up the series for New Zealand, where it will debut on November 30, while Movistar Plus+ has acquired rights for Spain, with a release date to be confirmed.

The series, based on the best-selling "Game Changers" book series by Rachel Reid, was created by award-winning Canadian writer-director Jacob Tierney and is positioned as a flagship title for Bell Media’s international strategy. "Heated Rivalry is premium, high-caliber content that resonates with global audiences," said Justin Stockman, Vice President of Content Development and Programming at Bell Media. "These international sales are a testament to Accent Aigu Entertainment’s vision for Rachel Reid’s story and underscore the strength of our partnership with Sphere Abacus."

The international rollout follows Bell Media’s acquisition of a majority stake in Sphere Abacus, which now serves as the primary distributor of Bell Media’s owned IP. Jonathan Ford, Managing Director at Sphere Abacus, added, "With strong performances from its lead actors, ‘Heated Rivalry’ delivers a powerful and unique narrative which our clients in all parts of the world are keen to share with their viewers. We’re very excited about additional international sales prospects for this engaging series in the weeks to come."

"Heated Rivalry" stars Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie as rival hockey players Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov. What begins as a secret fling between rookies evolves into an eight-year journey of love, denial, and personal growth, all set against the backdrop of professional hockey. The series explores themes of identity, competition, and vulnerability in a hyper-masculine sports world. The cast also includes François Arnaud, Robbie G.K., Christina Chang, Dylan Walsh, Sophie Nélisse, and Ksenia Daniela Kharlamova.

Rachel Reid’s original "Game Changers" novels have consistently ranked in Amazon’s Top 15 for Gay Romance and have earned critical recognition from outlets including The Globe and Mail and The Washington Post. The adaptation’s buzz is expected to strengthen its international reach and build on its passionate fanbase.

Executive producers include Jacob Tierney, Brendan Brady, and Lori Fischburg for Accent Aigu Entertainment, with Rachel Reid serving as consulting producer. Bell Media executives overseeing the project include Alison Korogyi, Sarah Fowlie, Adam Feigen, Rachel Goldstein-Couto, Brian Blazik, Carlyn Klebuc, and Justin Stockman.

As part of Bell Media’s push to elevate Canadian content for global audiences, "Heated Rivalry" is positioned to be one of the most talked-about international drama launches of the season.
