BBC Studios Digital Brands, together with BBC Studios Kids & Family and Ludo Studio, are thrilled to share that acclaimed actress Diane Kruger is the voice behind the first-ever Bluey Book Reads content in German.
Best known for her roles in "Troy", "Inglourious Basterds" and "National Treasure", Diane Kruger brings her exceptional talent and warmth to beloved Bluey storybooks "The Creek" and "Camping" in her native German. "The Creek" is live on the German Bluey YouTube channel, Deutsch Offizieller Kanal, as of today, and "Camping" will go live from 4pm CEST on 29th May to delight German-speaking fans following Bluey’s growing success in Germany.
In "The Creek", Bluey and her friends are bored at the park and Mackenzie suggests a trip to the creek. Bluey is unsure as she has never been there before. What will Bluey find when she explores the creek? And will she end up liking what she finds?. Meanwhile, in "Camping", Bluey is on a family camping trip, where she makes a new friend, Jean-Luc. Even though Bluey and Jean-Luc don't speak the same language, they teach each other how to camp, plant trees and hunt a "wild pig.
All of the beloved Bluey stories featured in the Bluey Book Reads series are published by Penguin Random House, BBC Studios’ master publishing licensee. Publishing has been a key driver of Bluey's success, with Penguin Random House’s German division, CBJ, achieving impressive sales across both storybooks and activity books. Bluey has also rapidly established itself as a leading preschool brand in Germany’s toy market, ranking as the #5 best-selling property in the Preschool Figures/Playsets & Accessories category year-to-date November 2024, according to Circana222. Bluey’s presence in apparel is also expanding, with Europe’s largest shoe retailer, DEICHMANN, recently launching its first Bluey collection across Germany, the UK, and 25 other European countries."
Diane Kruger’s reads in German are part of Series 2 of Bluey Book Reads, which brings even more beloved stories to international audiences. Also in this wave, Camille Cottin ("House of Gucci") returns to narrate "Camping" in French for Bluey – Français Chaîne Officielle, following her 2024 debut with "The Beach." Meanwhile, Korean actress Han Ga-In ("Mistress") narrates the first-ever Korean Book Read, now live on Bluey – Korean Official Channel.
Jasmine Dawson, SVP of Digital at BBC Studios, celebrated the initiative: "Bluey fans are at the heart of everything we do. As the love for Bluey grows around the world, we’re always looking for fun, new ways to bring the Heeler magic to more families. These localised Bluey Book Reads give fans in Germany, France, and Korea a chance to enjoy their favourite stories in their own language—making the Bluey universe feel even closer to home," stated.
Bluey Book Reads Series 2 also features Bluey storybooks in English read by Elmo & Cookie Monster ("Sesame Street"), Elijah Wood ("The Lord of the Rings" trilogy), Helena Bonham Carter ("The Crown") and many other famous names. Bluey Book Reads in English go live every two weeks on Official Bluey YouTube.
