In the year of the 25th anniversary of Princess Diana’s tragic death comes “The Princess,” a portrait of the People’s Princess, Directed by Academy Award nominee Ed Perkins and produced by Simon Chinn and Jonathan Chinn, told strictly through archival clips as an indictment of the media that made and broke her.
The new film was the runaway highlight of the Sundance festival’s opening night, and it is planned for a 2022 release in cinemas. The new title was added by EO Media’s distribution division through its partnership with Impacto Cine, which will manage the theatrical distribution in the territory.
“After its worldwide theatrical release, the film – produced by Lightbox in association with HBO and Sky – will have its television premiere on HBO and stream on HBO Max in the United States, and on Sky Documentaries in the UK,” the producers said. “Diana is the first theatrical release documentary ever to be made about the Princess of Wales and is slated to open in cinemas worldwide,” they added.
