Espresso Media International announces the documentary "On Broadway" sell (1x52’/1x90’) to SBS and it will premiere in their 8.30pm Christmas day slot. As theatre goers prepare for the return of Broadway after an unprecedented absence of eighteen months, an all-star cast tells the inside story of the last time Broadway theatre came back from the brink.

Directed by Academy Award nominee Oren Jacoby, legends of the stage and screen including Hugh Jackman, Helen Mirren, Christine Baranski, and Ian McKellen take us behind the scenes of Broadway’s most ground-breaking and beloved shows, from A Chorus Line to Hamilton.

Today, New York City is facing an uncertain path forward in its recovery from a devastating pandemic. "On Broadway" shows how Broadway led the way in the city’s last great rebirth and provides a model of how they can come back again. “We loved this celebration of Broadway and its fascinating history along with the star studded roll call of interviewees” says SBS Channel Manager Natalie Edgar. “At the end of an incredibly difficult two years for performing artists it seemed fitting to be celebrating them on Christmas Day and we are sure our Australian audience will love this documentary.”

GLOBAL HIT
Espresso also announces the worldwide licensing of cryptocurrency mystery "Dead Man’s Switch" to Discovery+ for 173 territories and will launch on the 23rd of December. "Dead Man’s Switch", which was commissioned by CBC and premiered at Hot Docs 2021, explores the mysterious death of cryptocurrency platform CEO Gerry Cotten – and what happened to the billions of dollars in crypto and cash that he held the keys to.

Espresso have additionally made separate license deals for "Dead Man’s Switch" to Foxtel in Australia, NHK for Japan, VGTV in Norway and Radio Canada for French-Speaking Canada.

“It is an honour to have made our first deal with D+ and we’re delighted it’s on a film as compelling as 'Dead Man’s Switch'. The fast-paced and energetic D+ brand is an ideal partner for the contemporary nature of crypto, so we’re keen to see how the mystery plays out for them over the Christmas period,” says Amy Freshwater, Head of Sales and Acquisitions at Espresso Media International. “To make it a doubly exciting festive release, we’ve worked with SBS for number of years, but a Christmas Day slot for our huge new release 'On Broadway' is a very exciting new milestone. We’ve been without theatre for so long that to celebrate its history, not least with such an A-list cast, is a real treat for us as the representatives, but hopefully for the global audience as well.”
