Espresso Media International has closed three package sales to European broadcasters VGTV, A+E Networks Germany and LRT. “We are delighted to have secured further deals on our latest releases with new and returning clients, further expanding our reach into Europe,” says Jess Reilly, Head of Sales and Acquisitions. “Espresso Media International’s high-end catalogue continues to offer a compelling selection of content across a wide range of genres, ensuring that our buyers can find the right programming to align with their brand, plus entertain and inform their audiences.”
To Norway’s VGTV, Espresso have licensed ten hours of predominately social and science content. The titles included in the agreement "The Human Trial," a ground-breaking documentary, shot over a decade, following a clinical trial that could change the course of medicine and provide a cure for diabetes; and CPH:DOX Official Selection "The Scent of Fear," which takes us on a first-hand, cinematic journey across the globe meeting those that enjoy fear and those paralysed by it. Also included in the package is "Surviving Sex Trafficking," which is Executive Produced by Alyssa Milano and Jeannie Mai, and recently completed a US theatrical release.
A+E Networks Germany have also taken Surviving Sex Trafficking, as well as "Nevertheless" from Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Sarah Moshman, which looks behind the headlines of #MeToo and #TimesUp to follow the stories of individuals who have experienced sexual harassment. For its channel Crime + Investigation, the broadcaster have also acquired true crime documentaries Not Carol (1 x 77’) examining a case of post-partum psychosis, and "The Murder of Lee Irving: Disability Mate Crime."
In a newly established partnership with Lithuanian broadcaster LRT, Espresso have also licensed five hours of diverse content, including the bestselling "On Broadway" from Academy Award nominee Oren Jacoby, which takes us behind the scenes of Broadway’s most beloved shows. The package also features environmental titles Eating Up Easter (1 x 53’) which examines how the Indigenous people and natural environment of Rapa Nui (known as Easter Island) are suffering due to a tourist boom; and "E-Life," which investigates the hidden world of what happens to electronic waste after we dispose of it.
