Evoke Entertainment (formerly Cartel Entertainment), has strengthened its leadership team with the appointment of Breanne Laplante as Head of Business Affairs and Lisa Alford as Vice President of Development. The company has also secured two overhead deals with Anthony Fankhauser of Ames Media Inc. and Lexi Lewis of Magic String Productions.
Laplante, previously Executive Vice President of Business and Legal Affairs and Chief Operations Officer at Reel One Entertainment, will oversee business affairs for Evoke’s U.S. and Canadian offices. Based in Vancouver, she brings experience from Insight Film Studios and the Canadian Media Production Association, with more than 450 production credits to her name.
Alford, who joins Evoke with a focus on streaming, independent films, and television movies, has held executive producer roles at Johnson Production Group and development positions at TriStar Television and Sony Pictures Television. Based in Los Angeles, she will manage the company’s expanding slate of films and output deals.
Canadian-American producer Anthony Fankhauser ("Creepshow") has signed an overhead, distribution, and financing deal with Evoke through his company, Ames Media Inc. Operating out of Evoke’s Winnipeg office, he will work closely with the company’s partnership team to help expand Evoke’s content library. Fankhauser has produced more than 100 films and has co-financed and produced both Canadian and American projects for streaming, theatrical releases, and television. Additionally, he has produced films around the world, including in Canada, Fiji, New York, Belize, Bulgaria, Ireland, Cambodia, and the U.K.
Producer Lexi Lewis ("Love of the Irish", "Never Been Chris’d") has signed an exclusive overall deal for her newly launched Magic String Productions, which will develop content across multiple genres, including romance, comedy, thriller, and horror. Lewis previously worked as Director of Development and Production for Cartel Pictures and held positions at Reel One Entertainment and Hallmark Channel.
