Online platform Filmarket Hub has launched the 2022 edition of its screenwriting contest for English language TV pilots. This yearly initiative aims to discover fresh voices writing for the screen and connect them with the industry. The call for submissions will be open until June 16.
James Capel (Screenwriter and Founder of Scribe Lounge), Josie Cyrus (Development Manager at The Ink Factory) and Aadip Desai (Screenwriter, BAFTA Breakthrough USA and Marketing Consultant at Roadmap Writers) comprise this year’s jury. The contest winner will be awarded a $3.000 cash prize and a £5.000 bespoke script development package from Script Compass, while the two finalists will receive a $1.,000 cash prize each.
The winner will also be invited to participate at a Filmarket Hub Pitchbox event: either the UK Online Pitchbox or the US Online Pitchbox. Pitchbox is a virtual pitch event matching high-quality unproduced projects with leading companies in the Film and Television industry. To date, five successful editions of the UK Online Pitchbox have been attended by executives from companies such as Bankside, BBC, Caryn Mandabach Productions, FilmNation, Lionsgate, NBCUniversal International Studios, Sky and StudioCanal, to name a few. Filmarket Hub’s new US Online Pitchbox will launch in 2022, dedicated to US Films and Series in development.
In addition, all the contest finalists will have script feedback from the competition’s executive partners: Bron, Eleven and Eleventh Hour Films. Any finalist or semi-finalist unrepresented writers will also be connected to Eva Robinson, from Sayle Screen agency, who will offer further feedback. Other awards include Final Draft screenwriting software, access to Roadmap Writers On-Ramp Program (finalists), a Pro Account membership to Scribe Lounge, an exclusive discount at the Writers Store, and a Curzon Classic Membership (winner).
