FILMRISE TO DISTRIBUTE "SURGE" FILM IN NORTH AMERICA

The company acquired theatrical, digital and broadcast rights to the Sundance Film Festival award-winner Film starring Ben Whishaw.

FilmRise has announced the acquisition of North American theatrical, digital and broadcast rights to "Surge",  the Sundance Film Festival Special Jury award-winner.  "Surge" is Aneil Karia’s (“The Long Goodbye”, “Top Boy”) feature directorial debuts and is starring Golden Globe and Emmy award-winningBen Whishaw(“Skyfall,” “A Very English Scandal,” “I’m Not Here,” “The Lobster”).

Set over a 24-hour period in London, the thriller follows aman (Whishaw) who goes on a bold and reckless journey of self-liberation. The film had its worldwide premiere at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival, where Ben Whishaw won the World Cinema Dramatic Special Jury Award for Acting and its international premiere at the 2020 Berlin Film Festival in the Panorama Section.
