Foxtel has appointed Daniel Monaghan as its new Executive Director of Entertainment Content, marking a significant leadership move within the Australian media industry. Monaghan steps into the role after serving nearly 15 years at Network 10, most recently as Senior Vice President of Content and Programming at Paramount Australia and New Zealand (ANZ).

Monaghan will oversee Foxtel’s entertainment portfolio, reporting directly to Chief Content and Commercial Officer Amanda Laing. His remit will include driving Foxtel’s content strategy across broadcast and streaming platforms, with a focus on building strong partnerships with local and international production companies.

Amanda Laing welcomed his appointment, emphasizing his proven record in delivering commercially successful and audience-driven programming. “Daniel’s deep understanding of content strategy and his strong relationships across the industry make him a fantastic addition to Foxtel as we continue to invest in premium entertainment for our subscribers,” Laing said.

Monaghan’s departure from Paramount ANZ follows a career that began in 2008 at Network 10, where he rose through the ranks across roles in programming, scheduling, and commissioning. He was appointed Head of Programming in 2016 and later promoted to Senior Vice President of Content and Programming at Paramount ANZ in 2020, where he played a central role in shaping the broadcaster’s slate.

During his tenure, Monaghan oversaw some of Network 10’s most successful reality franchises, including “MasterChef Australia,” “I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!” and “Australian Survivor,” helping the network strengthen its identity in the highly competitive free-to-air landscape.

Monaghan’s move comes at a critical time as Foxtel expands its streaming footprint through Kayo Sports, Binge, and Foxtel Now, while balancing its traditional pay-TV business. His expertise in both linear and digital programming is expected to help the company solidify its positioning in an increasingly fragmented content market.

Paramount ANZ has yet to announce Monaghan’s replacement.
