ABC has confirmed the return of its internationally acclaimed factual entertainment franchise "Muster Dogs", announcing Season 4 of the flagship series and a second season of its companion show "Muster Dogs: Where Are They Now" for broadcast in 2026 on ABC TV and ABC iview.

Susie Jones, Head of Documentary & Specialist at ABC, stated: “We are so proud of Muster Dogs and thrilled this original Australian series is capturing the hearts and minds of local and international audiences. Muster Dogs offers an authentic insight into the agricultural sector and life on the land, and we’re delighted that these incredible Australians and their immensely talented dogs continue to find new fans around the world.”

Jessica Ellis, Head of ABC Commercial, commented: “Muster Dogs is a true Australian success story with global appeal, tapping into something both authentic and universally engaging. The international uptake of the format and finished series, combined with a smart licensing strategy, is a testament to the show's unique charm and broad marketability.”

Following its recent Logie Award win, "Muster Dogs" continues to expand its global footprint, with previous seasons now available in over 95 countries through partnerships with leading platforms such as the BBC, Netflix, and Prime Video. Format rights have been optioned in key markets including the United States, United Kingdom, France, and New Zealand—laying the groundwork for locally produced versions.

Season 4 introduces a new twist to the format. This time, the challenge shifts to the trainers themselves. Six participants with limited experience in dog and stock handling will attempt to raise and train a working dog—from puppy to paddock-ready—in just 12 months. Meanwhile, "Muster Dogs: Where Are They Now", hosted by Lisa Millar, revisits Season 3 participants across Australia to follow up on their progress and explore how their lives have evolved since appearing on the show.

The franchise’s commercial impact extends beyond broadcast. ABC Commercial has developed a strategic licensing program encompassing merchandise, publishing, and additional brand extensions. These initiatives have positioned "Muster Dogs" as a multi-platform brand with strong appeal across lifestyle, rural, and pet-loving audiences.

Produced by Ambience Entertainment for the ABC, with support from Screen Queensland, Screen NSW, and ABC Commercial, "Muster Dogs" continues to build momentum as one of the most successful factual entertainment exports to emerge from Australia in recent years.
