"Paramedics"
Fred Media, content distribution business owned by WTFN, has sealed two new deals in the UK, bringing recently completed emergency services programming to both Sky and Discovery-owned channel Really.
Mem Bakar, Fred Media’s senior sales manager for the UK and Western Europe, was responsible for the deals and she comments: “As these deals were being negotiated, nobody could have predicted what our world would now be like, or the huge outpouring of support for our emergency services around the globe, due to the COVID-19 crisis. Both 'Emergency' and 'Paramedics' are series that celebrate the work of incredible people who so often put their own lives at risk to save others, and never start their working day knowing what it will bring. In the current climate, these new series will provide enhanced levels of insight and appreciation for emergency services everywhere, delivered through the prism of Australian stories, and I am sure viewers will watch their work through fresh eyes.”
Discovery UK has acquired "Emergency" (10x60’), a dramatic doc series following an extraordinary team of real-life medical heroes as they fight to save patients suffering life-threatening injuries in one of Australia’s biggest and busiest emergency hospitals, The Royal Melbourne.
Produced by WTFN for Nine Network, this new series offers unprecedented behind-the-scenes access, with roving and fixed rig cameras in trauma bays, examination rooms and triage.
Sky UK has acquired season two of "Paramedics" (20x60’), a factual series created from 18,000 hours of footage filmed on the frontline with Australia’s ambulance crews as they fight to save lives. The series succeeds in capturing moments of compassion, bravery, and laughter, while giving unprecedented insight into the daily lives of these emergency service heroes. Sky aired the first season of "Paramedics" in 2019.
Also produced by WTFN for Nine Network, "Paramedics" season two is storming the ratings in Australia, where it has been the second most watched show behind "Married at First Sight" (excluding news and current affairs). It also achieved a 25% share across all demographics in New Zealand.
