Fremantle has confirmed a multi- territory deal for Seoul based Something Special’s comedy reality gameshow "Battle in the Box." “We are delighted to be partnering with Something Special once again to bring this brilliant comedy and reality hybrid format to new markets," Commenting on the new deal, Vasha Wallace, Fremantle’s EVP of Global Acquisitions and Development said. 'Battle in the Box' is full of fun! It has a great mix of gameplay, jeopardy, and a lot of entertainment...audiences love to see their favourite celebrities put through their paces.”

Fremantle Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Portugal have optioned the format. "We’d like to thank Fremantle for sharing our unique comedy entertainment show, 'Battle in the Box,' with new territories," Praise Shin, VP / Head of Sales & Licensing for Something Special said. "We are excited to introduce this promising and distinctive format to international audiences. Created by our partner, NMedia, this Korean sensation will surely captivate viewers worldwide."

"Battle in The Box" is based on a hit Korean format from Seoul based format agency Something Special. The new multi-territory deal for Battle in the Box follows a previously announced co-development deal for music gameshow and play-a-long format "The Beatbox," between Something Special, Blue Circle (a Fremantle company) and Naked (a Fremantle label), which aired on RTL4 in The Netherlands this year.

The comedy entertainment and reality hybrid sees comedians and celebrities battle it out for pride, prizes and coveted floorspace. In the show, two celebrity teams enter an empty box divided by a movable wall armed only with a toothbrush. With no beds, chairs, or home comforts, they only have each other for company as cameras watch their every move. Throughout the day and night, teams earn space and luxuries by conquering physical and mental challenges. Victory expands their living area, but more room for one team means less for the losers, as the Box's sliding wall continuously shrinks their space. With more and more challenges around the clock, the celebrities must be strategic to secure their space.
