Global Screen closed new global sales for drama "Davos 1917"

The announcement was made within the framework of MIPTV. The series tells the fictional story of an extraordinary woman in the midst of a patriarchal world who develops into an important player in the espionage network.

The European distributor Global Screen - a Telepool brand- has secured internacional sales of drama "Davos 1917" at MIPTV. New acquisions of the six-part thriller include SBS Australia, TVP in Poland, and Big Tree Entertainment in India and subcontinents, it was announced by Brianne Bonney, Head of TV Sales.


"Davos 1917", which launched at the end of last year on SRF Switzerland and ARD Germany, has already been bought by a strong line-up of premium international broadcasters and streamers, across North America, Europe and Asia. Inspired by real events that occurred in the early days of the European Secret Services, "Davos 1917" boasts a cast headed by Dominique Devenport ("Sisi"), David Kross ("The Reader"), Jeanette Hain ("Never Look Away"), Max Herbrechter ("Rauhnächte"), Sunnyi Melles ("Triangle of Sadness") and Stipe Erceg ("Vienna Blood").


The historical espionage series “Davos 1917” shines the spotlight on this spa town: inspired by true events, the series tells the fictional story of an extraordinary woman in the midst of a patriarchal world who develops into an important player in the espionage network. At the center of the story is the Swiss nurse Johanna Gabathuler (Dominique Devenport). After her Red Cross mission on the Western Front, she returns pregnant to her hometown of Davos, where her family runs the "Cronwald" sanatorium. Along with patients from different social classes, they also accommodate wealthy and influential guests from all over Europe. Johanna Gabathuler unexpectedly gets caught between the fronts of the spies operating in Davos, who are secretly observing the powerful decision-makers. In order to win back her illegitimate daughter, she gets involved in a dangerous game with the German Secret Service - and suddenly becomes the decisive tip of the scales. Created in German and Swiss-German with English subtitles and dubbed in French and Italian, "Davos 1917" is produced by Contrast Film, Letterbox Filmproduktion,  Amalia Film, SRF and ARD Degeto.

Bonney referenced the historical context of the title: “Set against the unparalleled scenery of the Alps, 'Davos 1917' reveals the exciting and sensational story of secret and complex espionage activity taking place during World War I in Europe.
