ITV Studios has acquired a majority stake in Spain’s production company Plano a Plano, which has gained national and international recognition for titles such as Netflix's "Valeria"; Mediaset's "El Príncipe", and TVE's "Servir y Proteger".

Founder César Benítez, along with CEO Emilio Amaré and Executive Producer Álvaro Benítez, will continue to lead the company, which operates from its offices in Madrid and Bilbao. The management team will report to Lisa Perrin, Managing Director of International Production at ITV Studios, based in London.

Lisa Perrin stated: “After years of admiring the work of César, Emilio, and Álvaro, I am absolutely delighted to welcome them to ITV Studios. They bring an exceptional mix of creative talent, strategic vision, and strong industry relationships. The Spanish-language scripted market, backed by a rich cinematic tradition, continues to thrive and offers significant opportunities both locally and globally.”

César Benítez, Emilio Amaré, and Álvaro Benítez added: “This partnership reflects a shared vision focused on growth and creative excellence. It gives us the resources and expertise needed to seize new opportunities and tell stories on a larger scale. We are excited to move forward alongside ITV Studios.”

WORK IN PROGRESS

Plano a Plano recently premiered "Ladrones: la tiara de santa Águeda" on Disney+. The company is currently producing two new titles for Netflix: "Toda la Verdad de Mis Mentiras", an adaptation of the novel by Elísabet Benavent, and the psychological thriller "Innato", in collaboration with Dynamic Television. Additionally, it is in post-production on "Ella, maldita" alma for Mediaset and its first feature film "La Tregua", a historical drama produced with the participation of RTVE and Netflix.

Plano a Plano will now be integrated into ITV Studios’ structure in Spain, alongside ITV Studios Iberia —focused on entertainment and launched in 2023— and the scripted label Cattleya Producciones. Both are led by Nathalie Garcia, Managing Director of ITV Studios Iberia.

This acquisition marks a new milestone in ITV's strategy to expand its footprint in the international content market, adding Plano a Plano to a group of recently acquired production companies, including: Moonage Pictures, Eagle Eye Drama, Hartswood Films, Quay Street Productions (founded by Nicola Shindler), Happy Prince (founded by Dominic Treadwell-Collins), Poison Pen Studios (founded by Ben Stephenson), and Plimsoll Productions, a company specializing in premium factual and natural history content.
