Latin Quarter has acquired Peruvian documentary feature film "Stay Still" ("Quedate Quieto"), directed by Joanna Lombardi Pollarolo, ahead of its participation in the 2024 Official Competition of Ibero-American Documentary Feature Films at the 39th Guadalajara International Film Festival.

Premiered last March in the Official Competition at the Malaga Film Festival, the film tells the story of Hilton, the gravedigger of a clandestine cemetery in Lima, and two young women (Hilda and Cristina) who seek to have a house of their own by invading the cemetery land. However, there is one condition: to claim the land, they must stay still there, without moving. As the invasion expands, Hilton watches its growth with concern. If they invade, he will have no room to continue digging graves.

"Quedate Quieto" is the fifth feature film by Joanna Lombardi and will be screened in Guadalajara on Saturday, June 8 at the Cineteca FICG (Room 04), and on Sunday, June 9 at Cinépolis Centro Magno 04.

Juan G. Castro, founder and CEO of Latin Quarter, said, “This film coincides with our objective of spreading quality auteur cinema that not only impacts and delights visually but also provokes reflection and dialogue, helping to give a voice to those who do not have one.”

Joanna Lombardi said: “Hilda, Maria Cristina and Hilton tell us a story that takes place in Peru, but that seems like it couldn’t happen anywhere else. I just feel grateful for letting me into their lives in such a generous way.”
