Newen Connect hires Phil Sequeira to lead UK and North America sales

Newen Connect, the distribution arm of Newen Group, has hired Phil Sequeira to lead its sales operations across the UK and North America as SVP of Distribution. Reporting to Leona Connell, EVP of Distribution at Newen Connect, Sequeira will be responsible for designing and implementing sales strategies for both territories.

Sequeira will also explore and manage coproduction opportunities for the distributor with broadcasters and platforms, and look for further growth opportunities with existing and new market entrants. Newen’s catalog has more than 6.000 hours, which ranges from TF1 scripted series such as “Revival” and “HIP,” to Arte’s “Circle Of Power,” and factual shows including VRT’s “An Unbearable Case.”

The executive was previously SVP of Sales, Distribution and Marketing at Mercury Studios, where he spearheaded the music production company’s global sales, marketing and distribution strategies across all territories, media and platforms. Before that, he was VP of Scripted Sales and Coproductions at BBC Studios.
