"WAGNER, PUTIN'S SHADOW ARMY"
Newen Connect has just released “Wagner, Putin’s Shadow Army” (produced by Amandine Chambelland – CAPA – for France 5), a geopolitical investigation taking up one of the most burning issue of today. Journalists Alexandra Jousset and Ksenia Bolchakova have investigated for more than a year the Wagner nebula to lift the veil on the organization system.
Chloé Persyn, Head of Factual Distribution at Newen Connect: "CAPA has produced an outstanding hard-hitting in-depth investigation and we are very proud to support the producer and to distribute the film worldwide."
The Wagner group is a dangerous clandestine militia owned by Yevgeny Prigozhin, a billionaire businessman and close associate of Vladimir Putin, who is now the subject of numerous international sanctions. Although its existence is not official, Wagner is nevertheless a leading light of a new Cold War desired by the powerful man of the Kremlin: extension of Russian zones of influence, especially in Africa and the Middle East, destabilization campaigns against Western powers, misinformation campaigns, war crimes and targeted assassinations.
The film was aired on France 5’s prime time slot "Le Monde en Face" on February 20, 2022 and it has been sold to RTBF, RTS, RDI (Radio Canada), Al Jazeera, HRT, RTV Slovenija and discussions are currently underway with other broadcasters.
