Newen Connect has acquired international rights to the Danish crime series "White Sands" and has secured the global sales rights at a very early stage for this enthralling series, which is scheduled to air on TV2 Denmark in prime-time next summer.
Based on a screenplay by A.J. Kazinski ("The Last Good Man"), directed by Tilde Harkamp ("Hunting Season") and co-produced by Deluca Film and TV2 Denmark, the series (8x45’) is sold to YLE Finland, NRK Norway, and TV4 Sweden.
“Newen Connect were quick to see potential in A.J. Kazinski’s series 'White Sands' along with our Scandinavian broadcasting partners. It is wonderful that we are now joining forces to fulfill this potential and we are very happy to be working with the great distribution team at Newen” said David Østerbøg, Producer, Deluca Film.
“We’re absolutely delighted to be teaming up with Deluca Films to bring such a unique and intense character-driven series as 'White Sands' to international audiences.” said Karine Atlan, Head of Acquisitions & International Co-Productions, Newen Connect.
"We look forward to presenting White Sands on TV2 Denmark, as well as in the Nordic countries where the series has been picked up already. But in addition to the Nordics, we believe that 'White Sands' has an international potential, and that it will be of interest to viewers around the world. Therefore we are excited that it is such a commited and strong player as Newen Connect that will be bringing to them" added Mette Vorm, Senior Editor, International Content & Distribution, TV2 Denmark.
Filmed in Denmark and Germany and starring Carsten Bjørnlund ("The Legacy", "The Killing") and Marie Bach Hansen ("The Team", "The Legacy"), the eight-part crime series follows the Danish cop Helene and German detective Thomas, both of whom are down in the doldrums after turning their backs on love. Assigned to work together on a criminal investigation in the picture-perfect but tight-knit seaside community of White Sands, they are forced to live as a couple as they carry out a tough job. They gradually come to terms with one another – in life and in love - in this strange yet beautiful surfer town surrounded by odd and dangerous people.
