Nippon Television Network Corporation released an announcement stating that the network’s group has acquired the rights for the Japanese broadcast and streaming rights to the Turkish drama “Anne.” The series serves as a remake of the award-winning show, “Mother.” “Anne” will air on BS Nippon TV, operated by group company BS Nippon Corporation, and be accessible on Hulu in Japan, beginning on 3rd September 2020. “This is the first time that a Japanese TV drama has made such a global leap,” Hisashi Tsugiya, Producer, Production Division at Nippon TV said. “I am so proud that Mother has now become one of the most exported scripted formats out of Asia. We realized that the problems of modern society and values of the family are universal themes.”

It will be the Turkish version’s first time on-screen. Nippon TV has already aired the Korean remake version, which gained a massive amount of viewership. “Anne was the first remake of Mother, and it took Turkish production landscape to the next level with this completely new genre, quality production, powerful actors, and gripping storyline,” Tsugiya said. “Turkish drama is still relatively unavailable yet here in Japan and I am so happy that we are now able to watch the series on BS Nippon TV and Hulu in Japan.”

After “Annes”  major success in Turkey, receiving the 2019 honorable award from Turkey's Services Exporters' Association for the Most Exported TV Series of the Year in 2018, the series is now distributed in over 40 countries globally and continues to spark interest among international buyers.

The service is implementing a tactic that involves immediate broadcasting and streaming to gain maximum viewership. The Turkish version of “Mother” is expected to attract the fans of the Japanese version of “Mother” and new fans with this approach. “We are very happy and excited that Anne is going to be shown in Japan, its country of origin, after being very successful all around the world from South America to Asia. We sincerely hope that the Japanese audience will watch 'Anne' with great pleasure,” Fatih Aksoy, CEO of Medyapim, said.
