Onza Americas, the production company behind the series "Isla Brava" on VIX, and BH5 Studios, responsible for some of the biggest box office hits in Mexico's history, announce an agreement to collaborate on the development and co-production of new television series. Onza Américas and BH5 Studios, along with Rodrigo Trujillo, collaborated on the first season of "Isla Brava," and the agreement was reached during the filming of the second part. This innovative alliance also includes the production of remakes of BH5 Studios' acclaimed titles in Spain.
Both companies are already immersed in the development of another joint series project: a drama that explores the complex universe of addictions. They are also in the process of adapting the script for the Spanish market of "Ya veremos," one of BH5 Studios' major box office hits in Mexico.
BH5 Studios boasts a solid filmography that includes over 30 feature films, with two of their productions ranking in the Top 5 highest-grossing films in Mexico's history: "Hazlo como Hombre" and "Ya Veremos." Additionally, they have other major Mexican box office successes such as "El Mesero," "Una Mujer Sin Filtro," and "Dulce Familia."
Rodrigo Trujillo, founder of BH5 Studios, shared his enthusiasm for this collaboration: "Our first experience working together with Onza on the series ‘Isla Brava’ for the VIX platform has been exceptional. Their professionalism, principles, and commitment to the audiovisual industry perfectly align with our vision. Consolidating this strategic alliance with professionals like Onza strengthens our ability to create and produce quality television series, and also expands our reach to the Spanish market," he explained.
Onza Americas, aimed at the Latin American and Hispanic markets in the United States, was founded in early 2021 by the Spanish company Onza. Their first series, "Isla Brava," premiered on ViX last May, becoming the most-watched series on the platform during its first weeks. The series delves into domestic violence in the upper class, forbidden love, mystery, and betrayal. Currently, Onza Américas and BH5 Studios are immersed in the filming of the highly anticipated second season in Madrid.
According to Gonzalo Sagardía, CEO of Onza, he praised his colleagues: "It is a genuine pleasure to reach this agreement with Rodrigo and BH5 Studios. Harvey Grisalez and I worked together with Rodrigo on the executive production of 'Isla Brava,' and he is undoubtedly one of the most outstanding producers in Mexico. His vision, creativity, and commitment to projects are remarkable, as well as his comprehensive knowledge of the Mexican market," he highlighted.
