Irish indie Pictor Productions has started production on a second season of the company’s first comedy animated production "Flix – by Tomi Ungerer", which will air on RTÉ in Spring 2026 targeting kids aged 4–7. The series has been commissioned by RTÉ and received the support of Screen Ireland, Coimisiún na Meán, the Irish S481 Tax Credits scheme, and Serious Kids, who will handle worldwide distribution.

"Flix – by Tomi Ungerer" — from the imagination of one of the world’s most famous children’s authors — is the first ever animated series based on his work. Flix is a pug dog born to cat parents and living in Cat Town. He is bilingual, climbs trees, enjoys swimming (unlike the rest of his cat friends and family), and loves fish as much as sausages. Together with his besties Tabi and Munchkin, he explores all the marvels of Splitt Island, which is divided into Cat Town and Dog Town.

Aria Ungerer, CEO of Pictor Productions and Creative Producer, celebrated the second season:We have built a whole quirky world of Cat and Dog Town, each with its own logic and parameters, which is how Tomi always built his stories. "Flix" is a comedy adventure series which also doesn’t shy away from taking on serious issues such as bullying, the challenges of being the odd one out, environmental displacement and gender diversity, to name just a few. All of these are treated with a light touch and integrated into the humorous nature of the episodes," noted.

Finally, Genevieve Dexter, CEO of Serious Kids aims for growth in distribution: "‘Flix Series 1’ was a Covid baby of only 13 episodes. Now that we will have 26 episodes, we hope to cast a wider net beyond ABC and the other broadcasters that came on board early on for Series 1. This is a bridge series targeted at kids aged 4–7 — a popular target currently — and a unique property brimming with young talent and Tomi’s signature visual jokes. We will be able to deliver all 26 in January 2026 after the RTÉ premiere," noted.
