Sphere Abacus (SA) has agreed pre-sales for a third season of “Murdered at First Sight” to streaming network FilmRise in the U.S. and Channel 5 in the UK for delivery in Q2 2025. This crime series is produced by one of the leading True Crime documentary specialists in the UK, Woodcut Media. Sphere Abacus holds worldwide sales rights (outside of the UK) for all three seasons.
“Murdered at First Sight” (10x1 hour/30 hours available) exposes deeply shocking accounts of people being murdered by someone they had never met. Season 3 is executive produced by Woodcut’s Steve Jones and Koulla Anastasi, whilst Madeline Chiari serves as Series Producer.
Jonathan Ford, Managing Director at Sphere Abacus commented: “True crime programming remains globally appealing as audiences continue to have a strong fascination and curiosity for the myriad disturbing stories that these fact-based series can tell. Woodcut Media’s excellent production, which is exceptionally crafted, doesn’t disappoint.”
Added Madeline Chiari, Series Producer, said: “When we hear about random murders committed by complete strangers who never knew their victim, there are so many questions it raises. How did that victim’s day start out and what ‘sliding door’ moment led to the killer choosing them for murder? In this series, we have selected some of the most hard-to-solve and heartbreaking cases, to finally give the victims and their families a voice as we try to understand why and how this type of crime happens and can be diminished.”
Jonitha Keymoore, Head of Content for FilmRise added: “We’re thrilled with our ongoing partnership with Woodcut Media and Sphere Abacus. We sincerely appreciate the recognition of FilmRise’s market leadership in the True Crime streaming space with this announcement which is greatly enhanced by Woodcut Media’s exceptional production quality and storytelling expertise.”
