TV4 in Sweden has appointed Cathrine Wiernik as its new programme director following the exit of Erik Westberg. Wiernik was most recently director of acquisitions, formats & development in the Nordics and Baltics, working for TV4 and fellow Telia-owned brand, MTV Finland.
She will retain her current remit but also now take on the responsibilities of Westberg, who left TV4 Media in January to join Viaplay. In her new role, Wiernik will be responsible for overseeing programming for TV4, as well as studio and production. The restructuring has also seen TV4 name Johan Cederqvist as director of sports at the Swedish broadcaster.
Both executives report to the director of content & channels, Fredrik Arefalk, who said the rejig would “sharpen, strengthen and further clarify our organization.”
TV4 last overhauled its senior management team in late 2022 as part of a refocusing on streaming, with veteran content chief Åsa Sjöberg among those stepping down amid the reshuffle. Since then, Nordic telco Telia rebranded and relaunched its C More streaming service as TV4 Play.
