The International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced today that TelevisaUnivision has acquired exclusive media rights in Mexico for all editions of the Olympic Games until 2032. These rights include free-to-air television, pay television, digital platforms, and non-exclusive radio rights, along with the ability to sublicense media rights within Mexico.

This agreement was reached following a competitive tender process and includes a commitment to provide at least 200 hours of free-to-air coverage of the Olympic Games, as well as free-to-air coverage of the Olympic Winter Games and the Youth Olympic Games. The free-to-air broadcasts will be complemented by pay TV coverage and simulcast streaming through ViX, the company’s digital platform.

The deal covers the XXV Olympic Winter Games Milano-Cortina 2026, the Games of the XXXIV Olympiad Los Angeles 2028, the XXVI Olympic Winter Games French Alps 2030, and the Games of the XXXV Olympiad Brisbane 2032, as well as the Youth Olympic Games held during this period.

Thomas Bach, President of the IOC, celebrated that the agreement was long-term:The IOC is delighted to announce this new, long-term agreement with TelevisaUnivision, which ensures comprehensive coverage of every Olympic Games edition until 2032 for viewers in Mexico. This follows excellent collaboration during the Olympic Games Paris 2024 between our organizations. A record 84 percent of the potential global audience followed the Games, which translates to around five billion people, highlighting the tremendous success of the Paris Games. This record-breaking reach was made possible thanks to our media rights holders, including TelevisaUnivision in Mexico. This partnership underscores the enduring importance and appeal of the Olympic Games worldwide. The revenue generated from this agreement will be redistributed by the IOC to support sports organizations, athletes, and sports development around the globe," commented.

Meanwhile, Olek Loewenstein, President of Global Sports at TelevisaUnivision, remarked:We are thrilled to sign this historic agreement with the IOC. Thanks to this partnership, we will cover the Summer, Winter, and Youth Olympic Games across all platforms in Mexico for the next eight years. Our coverage of Paris 2024, watched by millions, was key to our selection by the IOC as partners and rights holders across all platforms in Mexico. Our commitment is to continue delivering the best Olympic coverage to every corner of our country while also contributing to the growth of the Olympic Movement and supporting Mexican athletes," noted.
