The Kitchen will house its first European media hub in Madrid, Spain. Alexis Cardenas, VP International Sales, recently helmed two important “master classes."  “With a plethora of the company’s team members already having relocated to the region, our immersion into the busy Spanish production capital, has been a swift one,” explained Max Wynen, VP Global Operations for the global language localization leader.

The classes took place within the Masters Program at ECAM (escuela de Cine y del Audiovisual) (School of Film, Cinema and Audiovisual), a Madrid-based university specializing in Audiovisual and Film education. The courses were for Masters of Executive Production and Masters of Post-Production Coordination. “Both of these classes offer vital knowledge regarding many aspects of the language localization process,” Cardenas added. "The Kitchen has had great success and even greater infiltration into the global language market, and the knowledge I am passing on to the Masters Class attendees is very important for an overall understanding of the industry.”

The students are all experienced professionals, studying for their masters degrees and beyond, according to Cardenas. Many are from the world of distribution, production and industry operations.“This is the third year that I’ve had the opportunity to participate in this program,” and next year, I plan on actually bringing the students to The Kitchen Spain, here in Madrid, to learn first-hand about everything we’ve been discussing,” Cardenas added.

This sort of participation will allow The Kitchen to remain in the forefront of industry changes and growth in Madrid. “We are creating the next generation for our business,” Cardenas concluded.

“I’ve been invited to prepare a class for the European Madrid University (Universidad Privada en Madrid) for students studying their master in language translation, dubbing and subtitling. “We speak about dubbing as a universal language,” Max Wynen, VP Global Operations, who believes in the “Master Class” concept as well, said. “While we are thrilled to help the new generation of language professionals, as Alexis pointed out,” we want to go beyond just a class. We’re going to be creating an internship program in conjunction with the university and will mirror the on-going, very successful internship programs that have been going on for years at our US-based headquarters."

We are creating the next generation for our business.” Alexis Cardenas VP International Sales
