ZDF ENTERPRISES TO DISTRIBUTE STORY HOUSE MEDIA GROUP'S “OUR CONTINENTS”

ZDF Enterprises has secured the global distribution rights for a new six-part series, "Our Continents," from the award-winning production company Story House Media Group. “Story House is renowned for making distinctive and exceptional factual content,” Ralf Rueckauer, Vice-President ZDFE.unscripted, ZDF Enterprises, said. “Our Continents, with its high production values, will not only be storytelling at its finest but also visually stunning, showcasing the planet in all its majestic glory.”

"Our Continents" is a historic-cultural biography of the world, an epic journey throughout the history of human civilization on this planet with a high production value. Commissioned by ZDF and co-produced by ARTE and ZDF Enterprises,  production for the series will begin in the middle of 2021 and deliver in early 2023. 

The six, 50-minute episodes discuss the continent’s geology, climate, flora, and fauna, and revealing how they have affected society. Each episode will focus on one continent, beginning the story from its birth. Unearthing a rich treasure trove of remarkable findings that connect history, science, and everyday culture, viewers will discover how the climatic pattern in the Andes is linked to the modern cuisine of the Americas or what the Australian surf lifestyle has to do with the early civilization of the Pacific.

The series begins with North America, which leads successful tech companies, and later covers landmass connections during the Ice Age in South America.  The formation of the land bridge between North and South America has profoundly changed the continent, as animals and indigenous people migrated and transformed it into the place we know today. Africa, known as the originator of cultures, is also included in the documentary, as well as Asia's farming inventions and customs, deeply engrained by the region's geography and climate. The documentary also reveals that Europe’s mild climate and extra fertile soil combined with its ideal coastlines, rivers, and location are the components that identify the region as historic, revealing the importance of isolation, which allows proper setting for animal life.
