ZDF to distribute “Shorty and the Legend of the Enchanted Reef”

ZDF Enterprises has secured the international distribution rights to “Shorty and the Legend of the Enchanted Reef.” “This beautifully told story combines humor and thrilling entertainment with educational elements,” Peter Lang, Vice President ZDFE.junior, ZDF Enterprises, said.

“Shorty and the Legend of the Enchanted Reef” is produced by GEFA & Softmachine, Softmachine Immersive Productions, Experimenta Science Center and Pixable Studios. Softmachine, founded by Peter Popp who wrote, produced and directed the film, is an award-winning animation studio for 360° fulldome content. The 66-minute one-off animated film tells the story of a clumsy but energetic reef fish Shorty, his smart sister Indigo and Jake, a daring sawfish, whose home in a coral reef is devastated by a trawler. The three friends set out on a journey to find a new home.

 Their search leads them to the legendary Sunken City, the gateway to the last safe, untouched place in the oceans: the Enchanted Reef. “A film that the whole family can enjoy and learn from as it raises awareness of our most diverse marine ecosystem, the stunning and unique coral reefs,” Lang said.
