Warnermedia's HBO Max greenlighted "Poor Devil" for debut.The title serves as the platform's first original adult animation series from Spain. “We all know people who have had to make a decision whether to join the family business or follow in their parents’ footsteps," Miguel Salvat, executive producer at HBO Max, said.
The eight-part film, written by Director Miguel Esteban, Joaquín Reyes and Ernesto Sevilla and co-written by Helena Pozuelo, already began filming. "Poor Devil, obviously takes this to the extreme and does so in a very funny way, following in the rich tradition of WarnerMedia’s adult animations.,"
The show, produced by Buendía Estudios, tells the story of Stan, an ordinary boy who also happens to be the Antichrist. Stan's voice will be added by Reyes, while Sevillas will voice his Godfather, Mefisto. The cast also includes Ignatius Farray and Verónica Forqué. The animation process for the title will take place at Rokyn Animation studios, based in Granada. The series is due to premiere in 2022.
Salvat and Antonio Trashorras are the executive producers for HBO Max. Ignacio Corrales (Veneno, La Templanza, G.E.O. Más allá del límite), David Troncoso (Veneno, Museo Coconut) and Sonia Martínez are the executive producers for Buendía Estudios. :I’m expecting a lot of people are going to instantly fall in love with the Stan and his demonic cat.”
