Beauty World Search's "The Fashion Hero: A New Kind of Beautiful" makes its way to Paramount+ in Canada

The 10-part competition series produced by Beauty World Search and distributed worldwide by Indigo Entertainment premiered Friday, 31 March.

Beauty World Search's all-new competition series "The Fashion Hero: A New Kind of Beautiful" was picked up by Paramount+ in Canada. The title premiered Friday, 31 March. “I was part of this unrealistic world of beauty and pageantry and one day, I had a vision of an industry where all body types and ethnicities were celebrated. I created The Fashion Hero six years ago," said Caroline Bernier, Executive Producer and President of Beauty World Search said. "Now we have millions of visitors on our website and more than 200,000 participants that believe that beauty is everywhere."

The 10-part series filmed in South Africa and hosted by AJ McLean from the Backstreet Boys, celebrates diversity and inclusion while breaking down the traditional barriers set in the beauty industry by encouraging regular people to be confident in who they are. "Indigo Entertainment is delighted to have brokered this license with Paramount+ Canada for The Fashion Hero: A New Kind of Beautiful on behalf of Beauty World Search,” says Emma Collin, Programming Director Indigo Entertainment. “It was important to find not just any partner, but the right one for A New Kind of Beautiful’s international debut. For a show that puts diversity front and centre, we wanted a global brand that equally champions and serves diverse audiences. In addition, creating connections and building community are at the heart of Paramount’s culture, making it the perfect platform for this ground-breaking format.”

The show features 22 contestants ranging in ages from 21 to 60 and from around the world, are guided by celebrity coaches and mentors. The global group of contestants includes three Canadians, Farah (Pickering, ON), Niki (Calgary, AB), and Susie (Montreal, QC), as well as Shani (Israel), Albert (United Kingdom), Alex (Netherlands), Ariya (Thailand), Bella (Sweden), Boitumelo (South Africa), Carlos (Mexico), Esther (Uganda), Gareth (South Africa), Harald (Germany) Harifa (Ireland), Matheus (Brazil), Menal (USA), Sanjay (India), Serge (Australia), Shahn (USA), Sum (China), Tarek (Morocco), and Uche (Nigeria).

The coaches represent internationally recognized brands such as Elizabeth Arden and Inglot build teams of four and guide contestants through a series of emotional and character-building challenges designed to help them open up and learn acceptance. Each week the coaches are joined by a special guest mentor including, Canadian rock band Simple Plan, personal trainer to the stars Drew Manning, Janet Jackson’s former choreographer Rene Elizondo, Canadian popstar Jordyn Sugar, former Drag Queen, Lenny Williams, and internationally recognized photographer Adi Barkan whose photos appeared in Vogue, Cosmopolitan, Bazaar, and who has campaigned for legislation banning the use of anorexic models. In the end, only one person will win and emerge as the face of "The Fashion Hero: A New Kind of Beautiful," becoming the face of an international brand campaign and taking home exceptional prizes. “I am so proud of our contestants coming from all over the world. They will inspire their peers with their journeys on The Fashion Hero: A New Kind of Beautiful.  Some of them had a rough time in their lives and now they are celebrating their uniqueness including our own host, AJ McLean from the Backstreet Boys, who had challenges of his own.
